Site management

Before launching your website

Are you ready to launch your site? Before considering this, a few steps remain to be taken. Below are the different points you need to review before launching your site.

Make sure all pages (and other page types) have been published

Even if you had already published the pages, it is advisable to publish them again to make sure that all the modifications occurred have been saved. Indeed, depending on the settings of your pages, changes in components, for example, may require the publication of pages. This is a significant step in the process of launching your site; More information here on how to publish pages.

Review the settings

Some of the settings should also be reviewed before launching your site. Check the parameters in the backend (client> Settings - see image on the left-). Here are the most important elements to validate depending on the case:

  1. Site Settings: All information related to your site including:
    • URL and Home page: enter your website final URL
    • Meta: Enter the default metas. They will be displayed on the pages on which the metas were not mentioned
    • Google map key: used in the google map widget
    • Design: make sure the skin used is the one which has been chosen.
  2. SEO: several parameters relating to the SEO and the statistics must be revised:
    • robots.txt: By default this file contains directives that prevent your site beeing in the search engines (before it's launched). In the field's help, we have indicated what should be the directives when you are ready to launch your site. Copy paste these instructions into the field.
    • Indexing: make sure the field is checked
    • Webmaster tools: this is used to check the behavior of your site in google and to be able to anticipate and correct the errors detected by the search engine. Retrieve the file from your Google webmaster tools account and upload it to your site.
    • Google Analytics Code, Google Tag Manager: Make sure the google analytics and / or google tag manager tracking codes have been filled
    • Bing Webmaster tools: If you have an account, insert the verification file for the bing webmaster tools space. Just like Google, Bing offers you a service where you can check the errors encountered by their robots.
    • Once all the changes have been made, save and publish the SEO section.
    • Check if your sitemap contains the urls of your site.

Last step

After checking all of this, go to the Directmail tool (if your site uses emails forms or emailing campaigns). Save all the emails which have been created.

Once they are saved, deploy all the files and test your live site.
